How to restore old iphone4 into an ipod without activating it.

So now that I have the i5, I want to give my i4 to my mom so she can have an ipod (shes on verizon, not gonna work as this was the att phone)

I just installed ios6 on it, clean installed and now it tells me to put the sim into my phone... if I go through the process with the sim in there, will it try n activate it on att?

Anyone know the best way to do this?

It will go through the activation screen but it won't activate. You can use it like an iPod then...it will just say no service.

thanks mang. I put the sim in there and restarted phone then went through process. as soon as it was done i pulled the sim out... looks like everything's good here
