Hey.

Can someone tell me How to restore to original 4.0.1 from 4.0.1?

I know that the new 4.0.2 is out now so I cant restore from iTunes, so want to know how to restore to 4.0.1?

My 4.0.1 is having some problems and I want to restore and then do Jailbreak/Unlock.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Using tinyumbrella and your 4.0.1 shsh, just start the tss server, then option (shift) click restore in itunes and point to your 4.0.1 file then select it.

You could also just edit hosts and point to cydia and then restore to 4.0.1.

Where can I download the original 4.0.1 file?

Also can I just use SHIFT in iTunes to restore to that 4.0.1 file that I will download?

I restored an iPhone 4 with 4.0.1 earlier today with the [shift] on restore method. Can't believe Apple is still signing the 4.0.1 firmware 4-5 days after 4.0.2 came out. Oh well got lucky I guess so I backed up and saved the SHSH blobs for future restores. If it's not too late already back up your blobs as well with Tiny Umbrella.

Yeah SHSH is saved.

But can someone tell me where I can get file for 4.0.1 to be restored via SHIFT method in iTunes?

I restored from iTunes and now I get this message:

the sim card in this iphone does not appear to be supported

I do not have the original sim card that came with the phone, how do I activate the phone now?

I believe that you now have to borrow someone's sim card so that you can jailbreak and unlock. You should have mentioned that you were not using the original sim in the phone.
