how to retain unlimited?

Sorry if I brought this subject again. I am eligible for an upgrade but I only have single plan.

I'd like to retain my plan as unlimited. Can you give me the steps on how to? I heard about The dumb phone.

Do I need to go to the store like best buy to buy a prepaid basic phone? Then activate it as my second line? Please advise.

I assume you are on Verizon, if you are on an individual plan you are most likely out of luck. The only way is to buy the phone outright .

You need to either have another line available for a upgrade, so you can use that upgrade then just switch the phone to your personal line.
OR
Just go all out and pay full retail for the phone you want and get it activated on the personal line.

There are a few rare occasions where folks have been able to, but for the standard individual unlimited plan you are not able to.
