How to retrieve hard drive contents with a broken screen

Anyone know how I might be able to do this? If so please let me know in detail as I am not extremely mac savvy. Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Connect your Mac via a firewire cable to another Mac. Then start up your Mac (with the broken screen) while you hold down the T key.
This will start it in "Target Disk mode". Through this, it will appear as firewire hard disk on the other Mac and you can get all your data off it.

Or remove the drive and stick it in an enclosure.
