I have a couple of old VCD's that I want to rip onto my MacBook to exract a few scenes out of (wedding stuff mainly).

Is there an app (preferably free) that i can use to do it, or a way to go about doing it with what I have - QT Pro, iSquint, Handbrake, MTR, MPEG Streamclip.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing, but it looks like no complicated software or process is required to extract the video and audio from your VCD.

Drag the file that ends in ".dat" (most likely in the mpegav folder on your VCD) to your desktop. Change extension from .dat to .mpg and open up in any Mac video editing software. Worked for me. Hope it helps!
