How to run 2 identical MacBooks

Hi Guys
I just got my girlfriend a new MacBook Air 2014 and would like to move current my laptop contents as it is to the new one

I mean basically to create a clone of my current laptop

Any help on how to achieve this?

Use and external USB drive to make a Time Machine backup of your MacBook, the when prompted during setup of the new Air tell it you want to import from another Mac, then point to the USB Time Machine backup as the source.

My External USB drive keeps failing after about 20gb in so only option I have is borrow one or get a new one
Any other options ?

Is this a thumb drive or an SSD or HDD? I've found that thumb drives aren't always good for sustained writes.

I guess I’ll just do the Migration assistant
