Heaven or Hell
how do i correctly run itunes music off an external drive ..?

are there any prefs i have to do for this to run smooth ?

(i'd like to store all my music on an external because i don't have room on my laptop )

thanks!

It should be as simple as

1) Close iTunes
2) Move your entire iTunes folder over to the external
3) Open iTunes with the option key pressed, this will then allow you to choose your library file. Navigate to the iTunes folder on the external and select the library file.

i have done that now,

but i have seemed to have lost my
iTunes Library file.
Now iTunes can't find any of the music because the Library file is missing......

How do i create a new Library file from all my Music ??

The Library file should have been in the ITunes folder you copied to your external.

Did you hold the option key while you launched iTunes so that it gave you the option of choosing a library file?
