Is there any way to make Safari prompt you as to where to save rather than save directly to Downloads?
Especially when the "Download Linked File" option won't work because the "linked file" is a HTML page and you can only click on the link to save?
I find it rather irritating to have to go sort out my Downloads folder :p

In preferences>general, you can specify where you want downloads to go.

"Save Linked File As…" will download as HTML if no file is linked and "Download Linked File As…" will download the file if a file is linked.

tip: option-click a link to save or download a linked file.

Its not possible to select target folder(s) when you just click and download stuff with safari.

That should be a basic function, see if safari 4 will have it, :p

As richthomas said, simply right click on whatever you are going to download and select 'Download Linked File As..' and then specify where you want to save it.
