how to save Google hangouts attachments?

I sent my wife some photos from our zoo trip earlier but I can't see anyway of saving the pics? Any ideas? Unless of course Google neutered the app to have less features that the android version?

Ps. I'm using an android phone so I can't use imessage. And I know I can use other apps like whatsapp.
