How to save my precious photos from my iPhone Photo library?

The HD on my Mac Pro somehow deleted a huge chunk of my photos. I have gone into the iphoto library contents and many of the folders are empty. Unfortunately Time Machine restore did not bring those files back (it only goes back 3 months and the corruption may have occurred before this) . However I have some of them synced on my iPhone 4s. Is there any way to bring them back to my Mac? They are not in camera roll so a normal sync won't help.

Could you just hook up your iPhone to your Mac, and use Image Capture to save them to your Mac?

You'll need software on your computer that can browse the iPhone's file directory.
