I sure hope this is a simple thing that I've overlooked . . . ;^)

In Contacts on my iPod Touch, I have all the 1175 entries that are in my
Addressbook on my home iMac. An entry typically has name, address, 'phone,
cell 'phone, e-mail, and work e-mail. I'd like to be able to search for an
address on the Touch, but I'm unable to get any results when I type the
numbers of addresses I know are good and are in the Contacts (I can see
them in the record). What I'm trying to do (I'm a property manager) is key in
an address and see who lives at that address.

Apparently, Search is only looking in the info (first name, last name) that
displays in Contacts. Is there a way to change either what is displayed or
where it searches?

Thanks . . .

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this. I recommend, if possible, that you move the person's address to "Last Name", and their full name to "First Name".

Not ideal, but it works.

EDIT: Even better! Move the address to the "Company" section on the contact info.

Thanks, Mr Slippy . . .

Well, that explains a lot. And for a variety of reasons, I can't put the
address in the Company field. (I use that field for actual company info

I've even tried Bento, but the results are the same - pretty frustrating. Is
this a Touch limitation, or am I missing something? I wonder if there is
another Touch/iPhone app that would do what I want - I'll have to poke
around . . .

Thanks again . . .

I have an app called Groups, which I think searches all fields in the contacts data.

It's a limitation on the iPod and iPhone, and I can kind of see why, considering your need is filling a bit of an uncommon niche.

I'll try to find an app that suits your needs.
