So I have retina Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I am confused on how to view my harddrive. For example, on Windows I just go My Computer and it will show my hard drive, and if I double click it, I can see all the installed programs and windows files. Most of the articles I have read online show the harddrive in the Finder under Devices, but all that is under Devices in my Finder is Remote Disc. Sorry if this is a very noob question, I am very new to Mac OSX. Thanks.

Having just converted from Windows myself, here's something I've found very useful. I set Finder to always open to "all my files" and set the sort to be by date. Now the files I was last using always show up at or near the top of the Finder file list, regardless of what directory they are actually in. I spend a lot less time navigating through a folder tree (which I thought was easier in Explorer).
