Hi!

Recently the screen for my MacBook Pro was broken. I went to the Apple Store and they quoted the repair at around $450. Long story short I opted not to repair the computer and replace it with something else. The Apple tech said that I could sell my computer as is and still get a good chunk of change for it.

So I am curious about the best way to sell a broken MacBook Pro? I had Apple wipe the computer and the only thing wrong with it is that the screen is cracked. I didn't have any other problems prior.

Is selling it privately or to a computer recycling company best? A ballpark price I could reasonably sell it for (I have no clue?) I planned to just sell it through Facebook marketplace or something similar.

Any tips are appreciated! Below are the specs of the computer and the original price. Thanks in advance!

SPECS:
13-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray ($1,799)
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
  • 8GB 2133MHz memory
  • 256GB PCIe-based SSD
  • Intel Iris Graphics 550
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • Accessory Kit
  • Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide

Try a site like gazelle for a quote, they sometimes offer cash for even broken macs. You could then try to find a private buyer, but at least you would have a bottom offer.

You can sell it as is on Ebay. If it can still work using an external monitor than it still has value as a Mac.
