How do I send an email in Apple Mail on a Mac with it NOT being "inline'? Just as a clickable attachment icon. So frustrating!
TIA

Which file format are you attempting to attach?

(Different clients handle different types of attachments differently. Some will always display viewable attachments “inline” regardless if the e-mail was sent with some sort of formatting or not. If you want to be 100% sure it will not be you’ll pretty much have to zip it before attaching it.)

Depending on the file type you can right click on it and choose “Display as File”

Just a simple pdf file.

I don't seem to have that setting. I'm on Ventura. I do have "View as an Icon" and I send it that way, but the recipient still gets it inline. Weird.

That’s the one, it all depends on the users email client. Outlook will likely show the attachment file, Macs and iOS will show things like PDF in-line.
