iPhone XR How to set a 3rd party keyboard as default

Trying the gboard keyboard as I'm for some reason constantly hitting return on the stock iOS one!

How do I make it default? Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't, seems to be no consistency

This is not a permanent solution. The iOS automatically switch back to the default keyboard whenever you type in a password.

If it’s just passwords that’s fine, it was doing it in WhatsApp and tapatalk that was really annoying
