I'm creating a layout with illustrator to print and the end result is 10'x10'.
I need to save it as a PDF.
The problem is, when i open the PDF in Photoshop, it opens at 300dpi and is incredibly unwieldy for my client and the printer and everyone involved.
(I dont know why they cant just bypass Ps and use the Ai PDF as is, but apparently thats the case)

So

I'm being asked to save my PDF from Ai at 150 dpi. So that when its openned in Ps it doesnt take so long etc.

How does one do that?

The resolution that photoshop opens the PDF with is determined by photoshop and not illustrator. There's a setting to chose a resolution when you import a pdf in photoshop.

You can chose to down sample the images in your pdf to 150 dpi in the compression tab of the save adobe pdf dialog box. You can choose which method to down sample with and how to compress the images.

None of that will matter though if they continue opening it in photoshop at 300dpi. It'll be exactly the same except that the images will be lower quality.

Hope that's what you're looking for.
