Briefly, I performed a complete restore/erase of my (then) functioning Linkstation 441e. When I set it up originally, I found the included instructions - as to how to it set up for TM backups - to be completely useless; I stumbled upon the solution and it was working fine. After the restore/erase I am, again, unable to get the TM backup working, and haven't been so lucky this time around.

It's a formatted RAID array that shows up in Finder*, and I've added a TimeMachine folder using the browser interface. TM won't find/recognise the drive or folder so I cannot initiate backups.

* It doesn't show up in Disk Utility, and I'm sure it did first time around. I think that I had to format the drive to be Mac Journaled, but I have not been able to get this done.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

SOLVED. Googling various permutations of my question, I got various answers (which had been my issue - there's a lot of "solutions", most of which are out-dated or apply to other units).

This one worked for my model Linkstation.
