How to set up iTunes with an EXT HD?

Hello,
With the collection of music, movies, and tv shows growing I decided to move them to an external hard drive. How do I get it tunes to find them, and write to the location (for new stuff)? The only way I have found it to import the list, but then it wants me to point where each file is. There has to be an easier way.

Yes, there is. Go to Advanced>Consolidate Library in itunes. There, you can choose where you want to move your library.
