CANADA? eh?
I have an iMac hooked to my network and an macbook?

how do i share a folder on my iMac so i can acess it on my macbook both running 10.4

if your network is encrytped so that only you have access, put the folder you want to share in the "public" folder of each system this is the easiest way.. make sure file sharing is on on both computers.

sorry for jumping in, but I have done this with leapord and I could see the folder and put files in there, but I can't open the folder from the other computer, so when I click on it it says I don't have permission but I have enable read and write for all users etc. any help. TIA

I meant "shared" folder of the user directory, not "public" folder. In Leopard's sharing prefs, in "file sharing", make sure the folder is enabled for all users (or preferably just admin or select users)

I have set the users and I thought I did everything correctly, can you direct to a guide, this is what I did I went to preferences, enable file sharing, advance, enable smb or something like that, I selected my name and password, and I thought I was done. I checked on my wife's mac, the folder (under public) but I can't get in, I could drop stuff in it and she sees it but can't open it to take things out. please help
