How to show contacts in Google Hangouts?

Has anyone found a way to show the names of people (rather than their phone numbers) in Google Hangouts when using it for your Google Voice number? They all showed in Google Voice before I switched over. I've tried deleting the contacts and then adding them back again on my computer but still no luck.

Any kind of workaround or anything would be very helpful as I've read that Google has acknowledged the problem

I haven't found a fix yet but for anyone else having this problem I did find out that Google updated the way it is doing contacts in early March and is rolling the changes out to gmail "in the next few weeks."

Hopefully once the new contacts changes are fully rolled out it will fix this...
