So on PC, there is a application that will allow you to view all of your videos and other media files. Like for FLV and other types.

Is there any application on Mac that will allow me to preview my files?

Makes it a ton easier to find what I need when I can see a prevew.

This isn't entirely accurate, Finder and quicklook can only prview files that OS X can read natively. MP4s would be fine, however MKVs wouldn't work.

One of my biggest gripes about mavericks is this - no mkv support. Perian is now broke and I can't view mkv like i could with 10.8 and bootcamp when a h264 video is inside the damn container.

Correct. And there still seems no open community project to create MKV quicklook plugin being created.
However, I personally don't get the widespread love for MKV at all.
All my media is in MP4 so it plays on the whole Apple ecosystem flawlessly.
