How to speed up iPhone 4S?

I JB when it became available for 5.1.1 and havent looked back. Will always go this route with my device. I have noticed that a couple of apps like Camera+ and a couple of other apps take longer than normal to open. Is there something I can clear to help speed up apps? I use a bg killer every once in a while but not regularly.

Remove items from the background more regularly, and maybe try fakeclockup from Cydia.

+1 for fakeclockup. It doesn't really speed up your device, just makes the animations faster. Hence the name FAKEclockup.

Try getting along without winter board if you have it !
