I installed an Optibay in my 2010 MBP 15" and am loving it but have two issue regarding spinning down the disk and transfer speeds.

I have the "Spin down disks" checked in System pref, have changed the spin down timer using SpindownHD and have fully ejected the disk from the Finder however it still will never stop spinning. I have noticed that I have about 4 hours of battery vs 5 and when I don't need the Optibay I would like to shut it down. Anyone had a similar problem or solution?

Also, the transfer speed seems to have gone down considerably. Using AJA System Test I get mid 80MB/s read/write on the drive in the original hard drive bay but only 40-50MB/s write and 70MB/s read from the Optibay. When the drive was still blank I ran it and got 90MB/s read/write but since adding a bootcamp partition, adding 150GB of photos and having 200GB free the speed has slowed. Would the Bootcamp partition have effected the speed even if it isn't being accessed at all?

UPDATE: What do you know, moving the bootcamp partition from my Optibay Drive to my original internal drive gave me back my 80-90mb/s read/write speeds. Unfortunitly my internal is only testing at 20mb/s read/write, though I'm going to try it later from a fresh start up. Anyway, go figure, maybe I need a third drive for Windows...
