Ok, I’m a writer for a living. I have the 12.9” iPad Pro 5th gen or M1, the one that came out last year. And the Apple iPad Magic Keyboard case with trackpad.

i only use Safari and Pages for work. I like to use both apps full screen and then I do command-tab to jump back and forth between Safari and Pages.

When I open a new Pages document, it shows me roughly the entire page on my 12.9 inch screen. Zoomed to ”fit” basically.

But if I tab over to Safari and then back to Pages, it automatically zooms in super close so that I have giant text on the screen and can only see the first few paragraphs instead of most of document.

I‘ve noticed it’s possible to get it to stay where I want it if I pinch out the zoom on the screen or trackpad and go back to showing the whole document. I can then command tab back and forth and it stays there.

But that only lasts until I start a new Pages document. I either have to immediately pinch to zoom to get it to save itself to where I want it, or do it after the first command tab makes the auto zoom trigger again.

It’s driving me nuts. I also tried just using the tablet without the keyboard but it‘s the same thing. If I tap into Safari, the first time I tap back into Pages, it again zooms in. I have not touched Zoom at all in the system settings, this is a default behavior of the Pages iOS and iPad OS app. Is there any way to stop this auto zooming without having to manually pinch to zoom it back out every time I start a new document?
