Here is a real struggle, every time when I was just trying to lit the screen up and check the time or new notification it quickly unlocked and went into the home screen... (my thumb for the fingerprint and my thumb to push the button -_-). I disabled "rise to wake" because I thought its a battery drain feature.

Any clue???

Use the lock button on the side. :)

Use the sleep/wake button on the right side for that... or just pick up your iPhone. iOS 10 now knows when you lift your iPhone and displays the time & date

Raise to wake might not be as big of a drain as you think. When you press the home button to view your screen it stays on for 7 seconds. While using raise to wake to view your screen, the screen only stays on for 2 seconds. In the long run, raise to wake probably saves more battery.

Just press the power button instead of the home button.
This is how I resolved it. I get it out of my pocket if I think there's something i dont want to miss, and is waiting for me. Then I squeeze for the power button, to my dislike, and read it.. and put phone away again when I am done replying to it.

If you don't want to look at anymore than the lock screen JUST have it on Raise to Wake and DON'T put your finger or thumb on the Home Button.

NO, it's in answer to your comment. With Raise to Wake toggled ON, it does just that, it wakes it to the Lock Screen - no button touching or pushing.

IF you want to go past that THEN you need the button and Touch ID
