iPod Touch always wants to sync with whatever Mac it's plugged into, then wants iTunes starts to "optimize photos" for over 7000 photos. This is what I want to stop. I don't want any photos stored on the Touch. How do I stop this before it starts?

Uncheck box for auto synch

Check manual synch it won't stop iPhoto from opening but will prevent it from synching also u can delete iPhoto if u don't like it

Under iPod setting, click the Photos tab. There's a checkbox that you can uncheck to disable photos from syncing near the top.

There's no need to make it manual sync.
