How to stop mail from deleting?

Hey there,

So I'm finding once I delete messages from my iphone it deletes it off the server too. What I mean by that is if I go on hotmail.com to see my emails they've gone from 700 to like 50. Is there anyway to leave them there even if I delete them from my phone? In my settings I say never to delete from server but maybe this is something else.

Is there anyway to get back all those messages?

I don't have an Iphone, but what I can think of is.

Don't use IMAP.

Use POP3.
