Hi

I have a mac pro running Leopard with Time Machine backup on an external 500GB FREECOM drive.

My issue is that I cannot boot my mac while the drive is connect, because it seems it tries to boot from the external drive and it starts displaying a flashing folder with a question mark in it.

So everytime I need to fire up my machine, I need to disconnect the external drive > boot > connect the external drive.

Could anybody assist please?

Thanks!

have you made sure your settings are right in System Prefs->Startup Disc??

Sure thing... all settings are fine in System Preferences.

I go to System Preferences > Startup Disk > Select the internal OS drive > RESTART: same issue!

:(

how odd, when you restart, hold down the Option button. when the images of the hard drives appear can you tell us which one is highlighted?

I tried it: only the image of the os x hard drive sows. The external drive does not show.
