I get this message - 'Safari is using an encrypted connection to www.bbc.co.uk' - popping up very regularly in Safari.

Can anyone tell me how to stop this happening? It doesn't happen on other browsers.

Thanks.

Are you using any Safari content-blocker extensions or private browsing features which don't store session history or caches?

Thanks, but no, I'm not using any content-blockers. Pretty sure not using any private browsing features. Just using default Safari settings. How can I check?

Now that is a possibility! I don't think so, but that seems like a possible solution. Never noticed that lock button before. I'll check that out when It comes up again. Thanks.

Do you (accidentally) click the lock symbol at the left of the URL when you click the address bar?
I'm always accidentally clicking the lock icon too. But good news...this won't be a problem anymore in Sequoia 15.4 / Safari 18.4! Apple has removed the lock icon.

  • Removed the lock icon from the Smart Search field for HTTPS connection.
