I have set private browsing mode, yet it still records some of my history?

thank you for your help

Perhaps your best bet would be to switch to an "alternative browser" such as Epic or even TOR for the things you're doing that you don't want anyone else to know about ... ;)

Does it still record your History after the close the Private window, or while it's still open?
it records history when it is still open it may just be me thinking this however it seems tat it doesn't record everything

Yes, private browsing keeps the history while that private window is open, but closing the private window removes any browsing history created while the private window is open, including search history, and any autofill information created during the private session.
So, you would see history of your session while the private window is open, but not after you close that window.

thanks for your reply when I go into menu bar history right now I see history dating back 6 days how it has only picked specific things, all of the things though I viewed during private browsing?

Are you absolutely sure that history that you see was from identified private browsing windows, and NOT from a regular browsing window? (You can open non-private windows even while you might have private windows open)
And, that private window, including any tabs that you created from THAT window, is now closed?

you are probably right a most of the stuff in history is stuff I have clicked links and they have opened up Ina new window I just assumed all the windows that opened were private?

I am pretty sure that any links that you click while in a private browsing mode window, will also be private.
You would need to pay attention to new windows, which would always show the dark address line that is a characteristic of a private window in Safari.
