i have recently bought two imac g4's. both 1.25ghz and use one upstairs and one downstairs. i like them both so much that i will soon be buying a third to have a backup if one of these dies. any special steps i should take before it takes semi-permanent residence in my closet? i will replace the pram battery.

well, i'm the original poster and i can tell you that i'm not going to take this thing apart to store it. any other way?

Again, it's all about keeping it in a place where nothing can eat through the box. That and keeping it cool. Most closets have enough space at the bottom to let air through.

Where do you think schools store computers? In a closet, untouched until they're needed.

I Shall continue to... I have seen a lot of people on youtube say "clear" the capacitors not a single person has commented on that as wrong.

Claiming YouTube as a source of accuracy is a further sign of incompetence and disrespect to those whose trade you drag through the mud. I stand by my past statement that if you intend to gain any sense of creditability among others, use the correct terminology least you continue to make a fool of yourself.

I agree with intell, and you cannot call an eggplant a squash, because an eggplant is an eggplant and a squash is a squash. If a person is stupid then he is stupid. You cannot call a stupid person "smart".

I am not making a fool of myself, not sure why your picking on me... If i choose to change I will with time, remember when I used to say duel instead of dual

I am not rabidz, please don't treat me as him

....be it "clear" or "discharge" (discharge is the proper term BTW).....you still don't have to do that to store the G4....what charge that is on the capacitors will dissipate over a short time anyway.

:D

Nobody here had any idea what you meant. Is that not reason enough? If proper terminology is available, why not use it? Your usage of incorrect terminology was unclear, and put us further away from answering the question.

In other words, continuing to say "clear" is plain stupidity.

Yeah, i'd stop stating that you are "clearing" them...it doesn't make sense. I get that you will "change over time" but that only makes sense if you had never encountered the proper terminology...which you now have at your disposal.
