Hi, one thing I've been unsuccessfully trying to do is store my MP3s on my server (Windows Home Server) and have the share mount automatically when iTunes is launched.
Currently, all my music is stored in /Users/Shared because my wife and I share our music. The music files are not physically located in our iTunes Library folders, but that's ok as iTunes lets you place your music anywhere. The problem is when music is on a server. Instead of iTunes going to smb://server/Music/ to find the files, it goes to /Volumes/Music... which isn't mounted and so iTunes says the file is missing. It's as if iTunes has no clue that these songs are on a remote server.
Has anyone figured out a way around this? I don't want to store my iTunes library folder on the server, just the music. I kind of figured that it would be smart enough to realize these songs were on a server and to mount the share when it needs them, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
