I'm really sorry for having to make a new thread about this, but Google really didn't help me, even though this appears to be a topic that would be widely covered.
I'm receiving my brand new MBP on Friday, and I would like to swap out the stock HDD with my Crucial M4 SSD as the first thing I do. I have the tools required (#00 screwdriver, Torx T6, and a HDD dock), but not the instructions on how to actually copy the contents of the HDD to the SDD so I can flawlessly swap them out without any issues. On top of that, I'm hopelessly ignorant when it comes to firmware numbers and whatnot, and how they might affect the process. If someone could please link me to a simple to follow guide on what I have to do, I'd be much obliged.
Slightly off-topic question: Is there an option to format an external HDD? And if so, does it affect performance when I use it on a Windows OS? Again, I'm hopelessly ignorant when it comes to cross-OS things such as the usage of external HDDs.
