Technically hardware i know, but more concerned with the software part of moving to SSD... I want to add small 64gb> to boot my 4,1 Macbook and 1,1 Mac Pro from and was wondering if someone could help/point me in the right direction.

MACBOOK
I want the macbook to be raid 0 with the old 200gb moving to the optical bay first question: Will this work as well i hope? i.e. the SSD used mainly for things i want done fast like booting os/apps... or am i better separating them and using the SSD purely for booting....in which case ignore this bit and move onto my Mac Pro questions. :D

If it will work as i hope am i correct in assuming I....

1, clone current hd
2, install new ssd + move old hd to optical
3, format both + disk utility to RAID together
4, move cloned stuff back onto macbook

MAC PRO
Dont want this raid'd as i use separate hds to store separate CAD/Renders/Animation/backup bits, so after physically installing/formatting the SSD.
how do i split the osx/app part of the 250gb boot drive there adm?

I really dont want to mess with formatting/re-installing snow leopard on this as i use it daily. so is there a way to simply cut/clone the boot/osx/app part and paste onto the SSD and remove it from the 250gb?
