Alright I had to restore my laptop and for some reason when I try to download the El Capitan update from the appstore it shows that I'm signed in as someone else. Which I have no idea how because like I said I just restored my laptop right now I'm on Mavericks. So how do I go about getting this other person the appstore thinks I am signed out?

I'm now running into this error while trying to update.

If you have an Apple Store close by, take it to the Genius Bar.

I'd reckon they'll advise you as to just what to do, without "paying" ...

Can you go to this section at the top right of the App Store app and click account, then signout, then sign in with your own account?

There's no Apple Store where I live.

Can you go to this section at the top right of the App Store app and click account, then signout, then sign in with your own account?

I would but it don't give me that option.

I've tried that, I've also tried downloading the update from online and each one I've tried it tells me the update app is corrupted or been tampered with.
