Hi,

i have my first Ipad, i use it in my studio (music). I want to switch off that i have to fill in my code *all the time*. It´s totally annoying.
where ? how ? (i-pad air, M3, latest ios i would guess) )

(same problem with my i-phone btw. / while i once managed to set this to off on an older i-phone)

and how to delete all the preinstalled apple apps ? i was able to deinstall some, but not all.
Or at least, how to get rid of these app Icons from my main screen ? Same: it´s annoying

Settings > FaceID & Passcode > Turn Passcode Off

Name the default Apps you would like to uninstall for better instructions, otherwise:
Press and hold finger on app for 5 seconds > All apps will begin to wiggle > Tap the little (-) at the top right of the app you wish to delete.

You'll have to be watchful when updating your iPadOS to make sure you choose "Don't use Passcode". Of course, it's easy enough to repeat the step above, but unnecessary.

Someone has to Say it. A simple one handed passcode is better than no passcode.
Now have fun and go ahead with no passcode!

Or there’s Touch ID:
After you set up Touch ID, you can use Touch ID to unlock your iPhone[/iPad/Mac]. Just press the Touch ID sensor using the finger that you registered with Touch ID.

Similar goes for iPhone (and Face ID):

There are a few apps that you can't delete using the above-mentioned method, such as the App Store. But instead of deleting them, you can remove them from the Home Screen. You will find them later in the App-Mediathek (Right to Left Switch) if you need them. That's what I do, and I fill the Dock with the handful of essentials.

But others have it full of widgets. Each to their own.

Because Apple doesn’t support multiple users, it is just easier to have no face id or passcode on a family ipad.

This thread is about an iPad Air, so each family member could register their fingerprint (assuming it's a family of five or smaller).

Settings > FaceID & Passcode > Turn Passcode Off
just: i´ve set up touch ID. Donne that the first time on any of my apple devices. I thought i have to. It looked like.

Now in settings, i do NOT have that "turn passcode off" option available. It´s greyed out, and says it´s needed since i have touch ID active.

So, new Q: how can i deactivate touch ID ?
( i deactivated now all "use Touch ID for" activations)

So… You .......
Thanks ! ...and donne

Anyway… If you insist:
what do you mean by that ?

are you also in the "should NOT do that" camp ?

Well, then let me add this: ...first: these two guys above who told me this already in their way, have set me up extremly. So, i say "this" towards them, not you ;)

It´s my world, my decision......it´s not to others to impose their reality and measures upon me.
So, jfyi: This Ipad resides in a music studio which resides in my apartment.
it´s to a 100% sure that this Ipad won´t be stolen under "normal live" circumstances.
What else could make it a win -for me- to have passcode active ?

i run exactly one music making based app on it. it has a relation to audio recording processes.
In the moment i want to use my ipad is "ANY click more to do something" extremly unwanted.
YES, i thought clearly about that. My answer to myself: even if "it" could mean to lose this ipad would i WANT to have all these "enter code" settings off. This Ipad has to work in a professional environment, it´s not a livestyle gadget.
If this ipad can´t do that, is it losing quasi any value for me ( it´s fresh, i can send it back for some more weeks)

THANKS for helping me solve this case EVERYBODY

this non-gadget works now as thought it should ;)
