Since apple ID is separate from actual me.com account, is there a way to sync my gmail so it is in the cloud?
Also, can I add documents to the iCloud?

This is so confusing, but i love it!

Gmail is already in a "cloud", it's just not the same cloud as iCloud. Add your Gmail account(s) in System Preferences/Settings -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars.

Well I just wanted the convenience of opening icloud and be able to check all my mail at once.
Why would anyone use @me.com accounts if you can just use @gmail.com on your iphone?
Unless you were an user.
Oh well.

How about documents, how do I upload...?

With MobileMe, you used to be able to add POP3 accounts to the webmail interface, but not anymore. You can use a Gmail AppleID to create an iCloud account, but the mail for iCloud is @me.com or, if you are still holding onto an old .Mac account, @mac.com.

We need to wait for iWork updates for iOS and Mac to come out before we'll be able to use Documents in the Cloud.
