I am takeing pictures of the fireworks in our community and was wondering the best setting for a D40 with 18-55mm lens, i know already that i need a tripod and i thought setting it on bulb might be the best based on google results...

Anyway thanks...

Rough guide.

Tripod
Fairly wide lens (though only if you're close)
Manual mode
f/11 - 16
Shoot using bulb - covering the lens in between multiple exposures

pot luck!

This shot was on a Medium Format film camera (75mm lens - equivalent to 50mm on 35mm SLRs), it's a multiple exposure so was covering the lens whilst waiting.
