I moved my HDD from an older unibody 2.8 into a new 2.93 (just swapped the drives).

When I look at the color profile to check my panel type (I want to know if I have a 9C85 or 9C84) it says 9C85, but since this was from my old machine I wanted to confirm that it updates with new information on h/w changes. When I look at the profile information it says it was created this morning. The other machine has already gone back to Apple so I can't check what display that profile had.

My question is - is my default color profile just showing old information or does it get updated?

My guess is it's simply configured automatically by Mac OS depending on the panel type when you first boot the machine.
So I'd just install a test OS X on a spare USB drive just to see what it chooses. It will only take you half an hour :)

Didn't you keep the original drive ?
