So I am a new Macbook user and I bought a Macbook Pro Mid 2012 used but in new condition. I checked the system report and it shows that the battery cycle is only 15 cycles, does that mean the battery is still new and good?

Also it shows the manufacturer of the battery is DP and device name is bq20z451.

Is this a genuine battery from Apple or an aftermarket?

Thanks!

Seeing as the battery is not deemed as user replaceable, and that most people never open their laptops, I think it's safe to assume your battery is genuine.

Sorry for asking, but why does it matter? Are you having problems with it?

FWIW, mine says:
Model Information:
Serial Number: D86229400USDGDLB1
Manufacturer: SMP
Device Name: bq20z451
