how to tell if phone is unlocked with a sim

i used redsn0w, hopefully that unlocks as well as jb. plan on selling it to a friend with t mobile, but want to know if its unlocked before i go over there .

After you jb with redsnow you gotta Install ultrasnow from Cydia to unlock it.
