1. About This Mac
2. System Report
3. Click on Bluetooth
4. It will literally tell you what features it supports, and which ones it does not (if any.)
Will read out like this:
Bluetooth Low Energy Supported: No
Handoff Supported: No
Instant Hotspot Supported: No
So that was copied from the System Report from my Late 2010 MacBook Air (which ALMOST made the cut!!) My 2013 MBA, no problem obviously.
My question is, I bought this USB Bluetooth accessory a while ago and I am wondering if Apple will allow us to use those to enable Handoff/Instant Hotspot etc. The one I have is a few years old so I might have to buy another one because I do not know if this one is Bluetooth LE or not, but they are cheap so its of no concern.
Another question is, I have disabled the Mac's built-in Bluetooth and then plugged my USB Bluetooth dongle in, however, my iPhone 6 will not see it nor will the Mac see the iPhone 6 or iPad Mini Retina...so basically...is there anyway to get this to work AND then figure out if Apple will allow us to use these USB BT dongles to enable some features?
(Just a quick note here: My Late 2010 MacBook Air handles Yosemite absolutely FINE. I notice zero difference from Mavericks as far as stability goes. I think it is speedier in some areas, and others not so much, but I think an update should fix that. Safari is FAST as I have EVER seen it!)
