Is there any reliable way of testing 3G iphone speed?


OK there is testmyiphone.com and various speed test apps but are they reliable?

Will they work reliably ANYWHERE in the world, for example does it slow down the further you are away from the server?

I'd like a good way to test my 3G speed in Australia as Iv'e read the speed test apps and the testmyiphone site aren't reliable in Australia because of the distances involved.

Is this true and are there any other test methods?

You can go do dslreports and test there. Google "dslreports speed test iphone" or something.

theres a free app on the app store... called SPEED TEST ... works great and test download and upload speeds!

I've created another web based speed test called My3gSpeed.com (http://my3gspeed.com). We allow users to save their test city with their results so we can kind of map out speeds in different areas of the US once we build up some more data. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Also just got my app store application approved so hopefully in the future I can make a native app.
