I always found Shuffles to have really good battery life. I still have my 1st ben 512MB Shuffle, and it can still go for hours!

Most iPods work well for years. I still got my first gen iPod classic,even if the battery has shown signs of degradation the last 6-8 months,it's still possible to get at least 50 percent of the playtime it had from the beginning.
