I recently picked up a Macbook.

How do I transfer my apple account from my old iBook G4 to my new Macbook?

Start your new Mac
Connect a firewire cable between the two
Boot your old Mac and hold the "T" key
Use the migration assistant on your new Mac

Enjoy

What happens if I don't have a Firewire cable?

Would a network cable work?

You can network the two machines with the ethernet cab;e but I'm not certain Migration Assistant will work. Just be wary that Migration Assistant isn't perfect so refrain from using it for apps and some settings. It's great for basic data such as documents, music and pictures though. :)

Alternatively, you can do it all manually by literally dragging the contents of the following folders to their equivalent locations in the new machine: Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Movies and Music. That's a pretty good start and can definitely be done via ethernet.
