How to Transfer all user account files to new user

hey guys,
is there anyway i can change the user account name, i went in preference>accounts and renamed it but when i go in finder under places i still see the older name.

If this is not possible then i would like to transfer all the files settings etc from this account to a new user account.

can somebody please help me out

I recently upgraded my hardware from one Mac mini to a new one. Migration Assistant is not what I expected. I figured if after a few mouseclicks, I'd have a new account that had old documents and old applications with their settings ready to go. Instead everything got moved from the old Mac to an interim user account where I had to manually move over Documents and apps. Things like bookmarks and other app settings are with the "other" user.

So I'm in the same boat as MacForScience. We need a Migration Assistant's Assistant.
