how to turn off "auto-play" music after phone call

Every time I use my hands-free earpiece on my iPhone 6, music turns on immediately after I hang up the call. Now, it is happening in my car with my synced phone (obviously the same issue because of the phone setting) -- after a call disconnects, music automatically starts. I have never turned it on and would love to know how to turn it off. I cannot find anywhere that gives me a toggle to do that.
