How to turn off icon scrolling?

how do u turn off the icons scrolling when you open a folder? I went all the icons to be listed at once.

I dont understand this one. Could you explain a bit more?

I think he means when you have them sorted by category it'll say something like "115 jpg files", then under neath that you'll have one row that scrolls to the left or right to see your 115 jpeg. files. I have no idea other than to change the folder view options. Or if you change to sort by name instead of kind.
