When typing in iOS 17, if there is a "hit" (an app, or other item matching what I've just typed), the keyboard highlights in the lower left to indicate at match. I REALLY don't like this behaviour, but cannot find out a way to turn it off.

How to disable this "feature" ?

Posting two screenshots
The first is a normal keyboard
The second is when there is a matching hit to the letters I have typed. Note the discoloration/highlighting in the lower left corner of the keyboard

It's not a discolouration...it's your search results showing through the keyboard. I thought the Reduce Transparency setting may help, but it doesn't.

No its not. It is predictive search. It is working exactly as advertised, it’s just the OP doesn’t like it and is asking for a way to turn it off.

Nope...look at their post and attachments again. They're talking about the "discoloration/highlighting in the lower left corner of the keyboard"...not the predictive search text above the keyboard.

OP please confirm exactly what you are referring to.

Wording or the translucent colour effect??

OP here.

I’m referring to the discoloration (“translucent colour effect”) in the lower left corner, and which was highlighted with a red circle by @ventmore above.

ventmore you’re absolutely right. I was wrong.

And I agree, I don’t think it can be turned off. Personally I like the transparent/translucent effects though.

The search feature is basically listing the search results in the background, and the keyboard is translucent. I tried, but no, this cannot be turned off.

I have seen this too. I just thought it was the transparency of the keyboard and the background bleeding through.
