How to turn off lcd/backlight

I now have an iphone with a destroyed lcd, but the glass and digitizer ate still intact. Instead of just throwing it out, I decided to turn it into an input device for my computer. I want to use the air mouse app, but the issue is that the screen has to be on all the time. How can I turn it off with the app still running and active?
